Covid Mitigation
On Monday, 8/9/21, the school board voted on an MRSD Covid Mitigation Plan. Please review for all information but based on the inquiries we’ve received I’ve bulleted the highlights;
We are returning to school “as normal” with increased cleaning procedures in place.
Students may wear masks if they choose but are NOT REQUIRED to wear masks.
If we reach 10+ positive cases in the district (students AND staff) we will require masks of students and staff.
Co-curricular activities, indoor/outdoor activities, transportation and lunches will return to pre-pandemic operations. However, per the measures outlined in the district's mitigation plan, masks will be required of all staff and students if the district hits "substantial transmission" or "high transmission".
Sports
IMPORTANT: If you have a sports uniform from last year, please let us know so we can account for it! Please drop off at our main office ASAP!
We are excited about our Fall Sports!!! All students in grades 5-8 are invited to tryout for fall sports; tryouts begin September 1, 2021. Volleyball and Cross Country begin immediately after school. Field Hockey and Soccer practice times are TBD. Game schedules are still in flux and are not on our website.
We are still looking for a soccer coach! Please email our Athletic Directors (Jim Perigny and Karyn Veeser) at BMS-Athletics@mascenic.org if you are interested! Feel free to volunteer your friends and family. :)
There will be a Sports Information Night on August 26th, 2021 at 6:00 PM in our cafeteria. Our AD’s will introduce coaches, review practice/tryout times and equipment needed, and discuss the Athletic Code of Sportsmanship.
The big news in sports this year is that MRSD and BMS have moved to an online registration platform!!! FamilyID is hosting our registration for sports and all of the paperwork that accompanies athletics! Parents can register their students for a sport and fill in our paperwork online (where it will be saved for future seasons)! Please note; students need an updated physical (within 2 years) on file with the nurse in addition to the information on Family ID in order to participate in sports.
Here is the link to sign up for sports/complete paperwork. Families will need to create an account- one family account will cover each child even though individual forms will need to be completed for each child.

Bus Routes
Here are the bus routes:
If you need to be added to a bus route, please email Tracy Poulin (tpoulin@mascenic.org). If you have questions about times or the route itself, please contact Community Transportation at 603-532-4079.
Drop off/Pickup
This is always confusing and with our changing traffic patterns is often in flux. We have a project in the works but for the start of school parents should plan on the following process for drop off and pickup:
Dropoff
Buses will go to the main entrance (parents should avoid this area from 7:25-7:40 for bus safety)
Parents drop off at the gymnasium entrance between 7:30-7:40. Students who are being dropped off after 7:40 should be brought to the main entrance. Attendance will be taken at 7:45 in advisory.
Walkers are welcome to use either entrance.
Once students enter the building they will go to their advisory teacher or if you are getting breakfast, will go to the cafeteria. Attendance will be taken at 7:45 in advisory. Students who are eating will need to bring their breakfast to their advisory if they will not finish by 7:45. Students who arrive after 7:45 will be given an opportunity to get breakfast and bring it to class.
Pickup
Buses will come up King Road and will face the opposite direction for dismissal at 2:15. Parents should avoid dismissing students from school from 2:00-2:20 due to buses.
Parents can either park cars in the teacher lot on the side closest to the school and students can walk down the walkway to their cars OR parents can line up around the circle for students.
We do not want students crossing the parking lot or walking down the lot- this is a very busy time and we do not want any accidents or student injury.
Popsicle Party
Our fifth graders should have received postcards inviting them to our Popsicle Party on August 27, 2021 from 1:00-2:00. Students will be introduced to their teachers and will get a tour of the building. Parents will meet with Mr. Fondas and myself to discuss the transition from HHES to BMS.
Tours
5th graders will be getting tours during the popsicle party. For any other students who are new to the building, our school counselors will be running tours on August 24th. Please email Sam Richard (srichard@mascenic.org) if you are interested in tours. Ms. Richard will not be checking email regularly over the summer but will get back to you as possible.
Powerschool
By the end of next week students should be able to see their advisory teacher in Powerschool. We do not have all of the students entered yet so that section is unavailable for students/parents to access right now. If you have questions, please contact Tracy Poulin (tpoulin@mascenic.org).
We are busy busy busy getting ready for student and staff arrival! It’s an exciting time of year! Please reach out if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
Liz Pogorzelski
