We have completed another session of HEEP.  We had a tremendous outpouring of volunteers this time.  We had parents, teachers and a couple of high school students chair clubs and we want to thank them for their time.  We were able to accommodate all who students who wanted to participate.  We had quite a variety of clubs - Cooking; origami; physical activity; chess; computer coding; drawing; painting; arts and crafts; reading; photography; knitting with solo cups; guitar and our old favorite Legos.  Thanks again to all the volunteers.  See you in the Fall for the next installment of HEEP!

Our latest Helping Hands initiative is Help Our Heroes.  We are gathering items for "Grab and Go" bags for First Responders (Fire, EMT & Police) to have after returning from a call.  We are looking for snack size packets of any food item (nuts, dried fruit, crackers, etc., small bottles of water or gatorade or individual hand wipes).  Students will also be making cards to add to the bags.  Our goal is to make at least 100 bags.  As always we appreciate the school community supporting all our Helping Hands endeavors.

The National Honor Society students visited with HHES students in January and "interviewed" them. The NHS students went back to the high school and created a story involving their HHES student. High School students have been participating in this program for years and the younger children love to interact with the older ones.  The Readiness students were VERY excited to see their story become a book and they we not disappointed.  We thank the NHS students for sharing with the HHES students.

And they're off!  To Globals in Tennessee, that is.  Congratulations to the HHES DI team for finishing 1st in the Engineering Challenge: Drop Zone. The team needed to design, build and test a structure that could withstand impacts from dropped weights; as well as, tell a story about a sudden event with dramatic impact.

Now the real challenge begins, raising funds for the team to travel and compete in Knoxville, TN.  Please support the team in their efforts to fund-raise the necessary monies.

Congrats! and Good Luck at Globals!

The Grange donated dictionaries to all our 3rd grade students.  They have been doing this for many, many years.  The students were excited about receiving these dictionaries and are grateful to the folks at the Grange.

Kindergarten Registration will continue throughout the remainder of the school year and summer. Please stop in the HHES office to register your child at your earliest convenience.  Please click the link below for further registration information.
