We've finished our Fall session of HEEP. As always we want to thank the volunteers without whom this program wouldn't exist. We had several clubs to offer, but unfortunately we weren't able to accommodate all the students who wanted to participate. This session we offered Cooking, Arts and Crafts, Basketball, Painting, Line Dancing, Legos and "Minute to Win It". The students had a great time and are looking forward to Spring.
Please consider volunteering in the Spring when notices come home. Click the link below for some pictures from this session.
The 4th Grade Field Trip to the State House has been cancelled for Tuesday November 20th. RESCHEDULED for Monday, December 17th.
We want to thank the HHES community for all their donations for the Food Pantry. We had quite a few donations. If you missed it, the Boynton Middle School is currently conducting a drive.
The author, Marty Kelley, spent the day with the HHES students on November 6th. He entertained and educated the children about the writing and illustrating process. He is a very funny man and the children were engaged in his presentation. He was equally impressed with the HHES community. We have many of his books available in our library and staff read his books to their classes before his visit so he found the children well prepared to interact with him. He also loved that the students and staff all participated by decorating their classrooms. He left with souvenirs from several classes.
Here are a few pictures from Mr. Kelley's visit. Just click the link:
Click the link below to view photos from the Spook Parade. We certainly lucked out with the weather. Lots of parents, family and friends lined the driveway to view the parade. The teachers didn't want to miss out on the fun and coordinated their costumes. Kindergarten staff were cupcakes with Mrs. Saari as the Baker; 1st grade teachers and staff including Mrs. Wilkinson were School Supplies; 2nd grade teachers were "Smarti Pants"; 3rd grade teachers were Police Officers and 4th grade teachers were Idioms. Following the parade the students had classroom parties and then on to Trick or Treating at home! Another great celebration at HHES!
Sharing some pictures of the 1st Grade students. Mrs. Saari as the "Wolf" using a hair dryer to try to blow over the structure but couldn't!; students on the story book trail and students in the reading circle. The 1st Grade students also participated in a Science experiment with pumpkins, measuring the circumference and conducting a sink or float test. Everyone thought the biggest pumpkin wouldn't float, but it did!
