The boys baseball team traveled to Chester on Monday to face a team that has always played them tough. Arriving a little late the team was forced to warm-up very quick which is very difficult on the starting pitcher. The Bulldogs scored one run in the top of the first inning and played a clean defensive half.
In the top of the second the Bulldogs went down quickly with two ground ball outs and a fly out to left field. In the bottom of the inning the boys struggled giving up four runs. In the third inning the Bulldogs scored one but remained down 4 - 2
In the bottom of the forth Chester scored one to go up by 3 runs but the Bulldog bats finally woke up in the 5th putting up 3 of their own to tie the score. They would add 1 more in the 6th to take a 6 - 5 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh Chester’s lead off batter walked , the next batter struck out , the 3rd up reached base with a fly ball to left field. The following batter walked to load the bases with only one out.
The Bulldogs were on the ropes with the winning run in scoring position on second base. With no place to put the next 2 batters Jack C. struck out both of them to give the Dogs another win in the book.
The Bulldogs are now 6 - 0 and face Wilton away on Wednesday for a double header.
Nice going guys !!! Way to fight back and get a big win.
